Nothing sustains a believer than Gods word. It directs, upholds, renews, regenerates, transforms and sustains us. It is our primary resource for change and sustenance. As the world cries out for
hand sanitizer and toilet rolls (that aside), we must look to the provision which comes from Gods word.
The battle between our soul and our spirit is ongoing! Since the garden of Eden, mankind has sought for a way to "get back in" to that intimate relationship; and for many the gratification of the soul has been the dominant pursuit. We are tripartite beings and as such we will feed the one that demands the most attention. Spirit - Soul - Body. In order to live a balanced and spirit led life, we must recognise which is the dominant desire. God has provided His word to direct that balance.
Romans 12:2 New International Version
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
The world has a pattern, just as God has a pattern. Which one we follow depends on which one has priority. God is not as odds with the world, he sent His son because of His love for it. However, the present system does not reflect His original plan for mankind; and it is us (mankind) that He came to redeem.
In this weeks study, we will consider three simple discussion points:
1. The soul is selfish.
2. The soul must submit to the spirit.
3. The soul must conform.
